Pacific Coast Gymnastics (San Marcos) Sends Two Gymnasts to Nationals!
The Junior Olympic National Gymnastics Championships are being held in our own
back yard this year, the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. Pacific
Coast Gymnastics is privileged to have two gymnasts that have qualified to this
USA Gymnastics sanctioned event.
17-year-old Caleb Fischle-Faulk of Escondido, a Level 10 All-Around gymnast who
trains with Jose (Lalo) Haro in San Marcos has qualified to Nationals for the
2nd consecutive year. The Men’s Meet features the top 700 male gymnasts in
the country ages 12-18. Most, if not all of the 2016 USA Olympic Team will
be competing at this event. The Men’s Nationals will take place May 4-8.
16-year-old Virginia Brownsell of San Marcos was the Level 10 Regional Vault
Champion in her division at the 5-State Competition held April 15-17. This
earned her the right to compete in Vault at the National Level. Virginia
trains with Jessica Hoffman and Lalo. The Women’s Competition will be held
May 12-15.
Results from the Level 10 National Men’s and Women’s Meet:
Caleb Fischle-Faulk competed May 5th and his combined All-around
score ranked him 172 out of 215 gymnasts. Caleb increased his difficulty
in three events just before entering this meet. He will continue to work
at this high level for next year’s Nationals.
Virginia Brownsell competed in the Level 10 Junior Olympic
National Invitational Tournament on May 15 and was the Vault Champion with a
score of 9.8 in her Junior D Division. This was Virginia’s first year competing
at Level 10.
