Class Levels & Descriptions For Boys

In each of the Boy’s classes, their skills will be taught and evaluated at Boy’s Level 1, with progress viewable in their skill chart via iClassPro. Once they have completed all skills across all six events in Level 1, their coach will present them with the opportunity to move to a Boy’s Level 2 class or to remain in their current class and add Level 2 skills to their training.


Superstars (Ages 4-6, Boys Only)

This is the first Boys Recreational Gymnastics class offered after their Co-Ed Dolphins class, with no experience in gymnastics required. Superstars is for boys ages 4-6 who have demonstrated they are ready for a challenge beyond what the Dolphins class has to offer. In this class, they will work on the basics of each of the events for boy’s gymnastics: Vault, High Bar, Parallel Bars, Rings, Pommel Horse, and Floor. 


Class Prerequisites

  • 4-6 years
  • Little to no gymnastics experience 
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to stay with the class throughout the gym
  • Is respectful towards peers and coaches


For each students’ first class, we ask guardians to stay inside the building to promote comfort in a new environment.


Students are ready to move up to a Boys Level 1 (6-8y) class when they are at least six years of age or are recommended for early enrollment by their coach.

Boy’s Level 1 (Ages 6-8, Boys Only)

This is the first Boys Recreational Gymnastics class offered after their Co-Ed Dolphins class, for students with little to no experience in gymnastics. In this class, they will work on the basics of each of the events for boy’s gymnastics: Vault, High Bar, Parallel Bars, Rings, Pommel Horse, and Floor. They will still get the opportunity to play games and have fun, while also building strength that will ready them for more advanced skills.


Our coaches evaluate each student on a monthly basis based on the skill requirements for Boys Level 1 classes across all six events. Your child’s evaluations are viewable in your Parent Portal under “Skill Chart.”


Class Prerequisites

  • 6-8 years
  • Little to no gymnastics experience 
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to stay with the class throughout the gym
  • Is respectful towards peers and coaches

Students are ready to move up to a Level 2 class upon completion of their Level 1 Skill Chart. Once your child is ready for Level 2, we will contact you to schedule their new class. Students must show they are able to be active listeners during classes for it to be safe for them to move on to Level 2, where they will be working on more difficult skills.

Tuesday

Boy’s Level 2 (Ages 6-14y, Boys Only)

This is the intermediate level of Boys Recreational Gymnastics classes that requires passing all skills in the Boys Level 1 Skill chart and coach recommendation for enrollment. This class is for boys who are now ready to learn more advanced skills across each of the six boy’s gymnastics events. In this class, they will build upon the basics learned in Level 1 to advance their tumbling passes and routines across each of the six men’s gymnastics events.


Class Prerequisites

  • 6 - 11 years
  • Completion of the PCG Level 1 Skill Chart and coach recommendation
  • Previous enrollment in a Level 2 class at a gym other than PCG*
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to stay with the class throughout the gym
  • Is respectful towards peers and coaches


*Students coming from other gyms will be evaluated during their Level 2 free trial class to determine the equivalent level for them at PCG.


Students are ready to move up to a Beginner Jr/Sr (12y - 17y) class when they are at least twelve years of age or a Level 3 class upon completion of their Level 2 Skill Chart. Once your child is ready for Level 3, we will contact you to schedule their new class. Students must show they are able to be active listeners during classes for it to be safe for them to move on to Level 3, where they will be working on more difficult skills. 

Tuesday

Beginner Tumbling (6-8y, CoEd)

This class is our beginner tumbling class for girls and boys who have some to no experience in gymnastics or have completed our Sharks (girls 5-6y) or Superstars (boys 4-6y) classes. This class is designed to build the foundations of beginner tumbling: handstands, cartwheels, rolls, and bridges. Your child will learn the names and movements of basic tumbling skills, as well as how to be safe and comfortable with trying new things. This class will also work to build their strength and flexibility to prepare them for more advanced skills in the future.


Our coaches evaluate each student on a monthly basis based on the skill requirements for Beginner Tumbling. Your child’s evaluations are viewable in your Parent Portal under “Skill Chart.”


Class Prerequisites

  • 6 - 8 years or recommended by a PCG coach
  • Little to no gymnastics experience
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to stay with the class throughout the gym
  • Is respectful towards peers and coaches

Students are ready to move up to an Intermediate Tumbling class upon completion of their Beginner Tumbling Skill Chart. Once your child is ready for Intermediate Tumbling, we will contact you to schedule their new class. Students must show they are able to be active listeners during classes for it to be safe for them to move on to Intermediate Tumbling, where they will be working on more difficult skills.


**Enrollment in this class does
not equate to a specific leveled gymnastics class, as this class will only focus on tumbling and will not work on the other three women’s/five men’s gymnastics events**

Wednesday
6:00-6:50pm

Intermediate Tumbling (6-12y, CoEd)

This class is our intermediate tumbling class for girls and boys who have demonstrated proficiency across all of the basic tumbling skills This class is designed to build on the foundations of Beginner Tumbling by connecting skills for more advanced tumbling passes and starting to learn flight skills (e.g. handsprings). This class will continue to build students’ strength and flexibility.


Our coaches evaluate each student on a monthly basis based on the skill requirements for Beginner Tumbling. Your child’s evaluations are viewable in your Parent Portal under “Skill Chart.”


Class Prerequisites

  • 6 - 12 years or recommended by a PCG coach
  • Completion of the Beginner Tumbling Skill Chart or Currently enrolled as a PCG Level 2+
  • Previous enrollment in a Level 2 or Intermediate Tumbling class at a gym other than PCG*
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to stay with the class throughout the gym
  • Is respectful towards peers and coaches


*Students coming from other gyms will be evaluated during their Level 2 free trial class to determine the equivalent level for them at PCG.

not equate to a specific leveled gymnastics class, as this class will only focus on tumbling and will not work on the other three women’s/five men’s gymnastics events**
