Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who do you offer classes for?

We are proud classes for students ages 18 mo - 17 years for both girls and boys! We have everything from gymnastics to aerial arts to tumbling to summer camps.

Once you create a parent account through our New & Existing Parent Portal and add your child as a student, you will be able to view all classes available to them based on their age. All of our enrollments, class transfers, waivers,  billing, and coach skill assessments are accessible online through your Parent Portal.

  • My child is new to gymnastics, which classes should I be looking for?

All children ages 18 months to 5 years will be in our PreK / TK Gymnastics Program. These tiny tots are placed in a class as determined by their age. Our class levels in this program have multiple options for ages 3-5y to accommodate for the wide variety in development in students of this age group. It is common for students ages 3-5 to attend a trial in one class level and be recommended for a different level by their coach after their in-class evaluation. By keeping lines of communicaton open with our families, we work together to ensure each student is in the group that is the best fit for them!

All children new to gymnastics ages 6 and up will be placed in a Level 1 class with their age group: Girls 6-8y, Girls 8-11y,Girls Jr/Sr 12-17y, Boys 6-8y, or Boys 9-14y. This is where they will build the gymnastics basics! In the Girls Recreational Program they will develop skills on Bars, Vault, Beam, and Floor. In the Boys Recreational Program, they will develop skills on Floor, Pommel, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and High Bar.

Looking to ease into the gymnastics world? Our CoEd Tumbling classes are a great place to start! New students are placed in a Beginner Tumbling class for ages 6-8y or 8-11y. Here they will work on floor skills to bulid strong tumbling basics.

  • My child has a background in gymnastics, how do I know which class is for them?

We're glad they love gymnastics as much as we do! If your child was enrolled in a PreK Program, Level 1, or Beginner-style class at their previous gym, we recommend requesting a free trial in either our age-based PreK/TK program or our Girls/Boys Level 1 class. During their trial, our coach will do an in-class evaluation to determine the level appropriate for them.

If your child was enrolled in a Level 2 or above class at another gym, please contact us at pcgfrontdesk@gmail.com so we may discuss their current curriculum and determine the best placement for an equivalent level at PCG.

  • What should my child wear to class?

Students must wear fitted athletic wear that  fully covers their midsection without any large zippers, hoods, or ornaments that may impair vision, restrict mobility, prevent propper spotting, or cause unnecessary risk during activity.

Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so that it stays up for the entire workout. Gymnasts should not wear bows or other large hair ornaments, hooded sweatshirts, dangling jewelry (earrings or necklaces), or any other item that may cause discomfort during activity. There are to be no shoes on the gym floor nor socks worn on the trampoline or beams of any height due to safety concerns. We find students are most comfortable in leggings or joggers with a long-sleeved shirt in the winter and athletic shorts and fitted tank tops or leotards in the summer.

Additionally, for all Aerial Program classes, it is highly suggested that students wear sleeved (short or long) shirts and biker-length or longer pants regardless of season, as the silk ties will wrap under the arms and under the thighs for certain basic skills.

  • How does your tuition billing work?

Tuition is billed via auto-pay on the 1st of each month for the upcoming month's enrollment(s) to the card you choose to put on file in your Parent Portal. Enrollments are on auto-renew, so your child is enrolled in their active classes until you request a change through the Parent Portal or with our office. There is no long-term commitment involved; if you would like to drop a class, let us know at least one business day prior to the 1st so that you are not charged for the upcoming month's tuition.

Upon initial enrollment, our $60 annual registration fee and prorated tuition for your month of enrollment as determined by start date. The registration fee is charged upon initial enrollment and annually in the original month of enrollment for each active student. Your annual registration fee is valid for one year from the enrollment date regardless of breaks in enrollment.

  • What is your makeup policy?

We do not offer makeup classes for missed classes, for any reason.

We believe it is important to provide consistency for our gymnasts to ensure the best possible learning environment for growth. This includes their coach having knowledge of the gymnasts' current ability and how they are best coached to provide successful and safe training. On the chance a class will require a substitute coach, their coach communicates details of the needs of individual students and the substitude reviews the skill charts and progress of the class to continue that consistency.

  • I haven't noticed any significant improvement in my child. What is the normal amount of time to be in the same level?

This is a very common question, but the answer isn't so easy! All children learn and demonstrate new skills at their own rate. There are some students that will spend three years in a beginner class and quickly move through the following levels, and others that will move up quickly at first and get stuck on an intermediate skill. Moreso, some kids are just here to have fun and will take joy in the little accomplishments, even if they are in the same class from the day they join to the day they leave! What is important to us is that they are moving at a pace that is challenging, safe, positive, and confidence-enducing. We recommend waiting 2-6 months to see significant progress for our once weekly students.

If your child is interested in expedited improvement, they are welcome to enroll in an additional weekly class at a prorate for increased practice.

If your child is looking for skill or event-specific focus work, you may want to inquire about booking a private lesson. Contact our office for details on booking private lessons with our coaches!

  • How does my child move up to the next class level?

For all  classes in our PreK/TK Program (Coed, ages 18mo - 5y), your child's coach will communicate with you as soon as they believe your child is ready for the next step! This is typically close to when they are at the next age level, but you are always welcome to inquire with your child's coach.

For all leveled classes, we require the successful demonstration of all skills of their current level's skill chart. The curriculum for levels 1-4 is progressive, with increasing difficulty requiring mastery of the previous basics to maintain safety. Our coaches are always evaluating their students, with skill chart updates submitted once per month. Your child's evaluations are viewable to you at any time through your Parent Portal under Evaluations. Once they have mastered all skills across all events at their level, we will notify you directly and assist with your child's transition to their next class.
